RETREAT is FULL – Contact Jena to be added to the WaitList

We’ll gather in the fertile darkness of winter, where quiet contemplation in the warm radiance of wise women will invite your unique stories, images, memories and ideas to flow onto the blank page. By slowing down and attuning to our bodies through mindfulness, improvised movement, sensory awareness practices and artful rituals, we’ll practice writing from the inside-out. Writing from this embodied place awakens creativity, insight and connection to our true nature. Writing within our compassionate community offers inspiration and support for the unfolding of your authentic voice. We will breathe, move, sit, write, draw, and share what arises in the space between our hearts and pens. Emphasis is not on technique or critique. Rather, we will cultivate practices to engage our body-mind wisdom, write freely and expressively, and become authors of our lives.

Options to extend your retreat time include: A Salon Evening with dinner & poetry readings by the fire on Saturday evening, overnight accommodations & personal retreat time on Sunday, morning (Feb. 3), and therapeutic horse sessions on Sunday morning.

Location: Galleywinter Farm & Sanctuary in Afton, VA

As summer begins, we will pause to rest, relax and luxuriate in a day of art-making, self care and creative community. Join us as we tend the soul fires, exploring what longs for expression, release and transformation within us. We will breathe, move, dance, draw, write, and shape artful encounters with the spacious landscape surrounding our studio. Creating from this embodied place ignites an alchemical process whereby we free ourselves from limiting perceptions or outworn habits, calling forth a renewed capacity to live passionately, courageously and authentically.

Optional outdoor art-making and lunch al fresco will complement the day. Art materials and snacks provided. Bring a journal or sketchbook, pen or pencil, and a simple lunch. No previous art or mindfulness experience required.
